Global Clubs Transfer Spending Hits Record $9.89bn – FIFA

Manchester City are reportedly in the race to sign Spurs striker Harry Kane alongside Manchester United, who have been monitoring the England international for many years.

However, both clubs may have to dole out a British record £150million to stand a chance of signing the 27-year-old forward, according to Daily Mail.

Kane has notched up 21 goals for the Lillywhites this season. And Tottenham are confident that the striker who is contracted to the club until 2024 on a deal worth around £200,000 a week, will go nowhere.

If an agreement is reached on the asking price, it would make Kane the third most expensive footballer of all time after Paris Saint-Germain pair Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

It would also smash the record paid for a British player — Gareth Bale’s £85m move from Tottenham to Real Madrid in 2013 and eclipse the biggest transfer deal involving a British club — Philippe Coutinho’s £142m move to Barcelona from Liverpool in 2018.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate for a striker and his search includes Erling Haaland as well as Tottenham’s frontman.

And City are also keen for a No. 9 with Sergio Aguero’s injuries catching up with him while the Argentine’s contract expires in the summer.

With Spurs still struggling to establish themselves among the top elites club in Europe and while a trophy laden era is still not within reach, Kane, indeed does have a big decision to make.
