Nearly 100 military personnel representing 40 African countries commenced a ten-day official visit to China on Monday, an official announcement confirmed.
The visiting officers come from various countries, including Egypt, Mozambique, Tanzania, and Kenya, and are in China until May 15 based on an invitation from the Chinese Ministry of Defense.
The African delegates will engage in several interactive sessions and are scheduled to tour multiple cities such as Beijing, Shaoshan, and Changsha, which is located in the central Chinese province of Hunan, according to the Ministry.
Earlier in the year, China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, announced a commitment to provide 1 billion yuan (approximately $136 million) in military support to African nations during visits to Namibia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Chad, and Nigeria.
Wang further indicated that China would offer training for around 6,000 military personnel and an additional 1,000 law enforcement officers from various African countries.
The ongoing visit by African military officials comes shortly after China concluded joint air exercises with Egypt.
The bilateral air force training, named Eagles of Civilization 2025, lasted for 18 days and finished on Sunday at an airbase in Egypt.
