The draws for the quarter final stage of the English Football League (EFL) Cup has been released. The draw would see two Nigerian players, Odion Ighalo and Alex Iwobi file out against each other when Everton clashes with Manchester United.
The duo seem to be struggling for playing time having only managed fewer numbers so far this season. However, Iwobi, 24, has found the back of the net once in the league cup this season as compared to his compatriot.
The presence of new signings James Rodriguez, Allan and in-form Richarlison has made it quite difficult for the Toffees coach, Carlo Ancelotti to look the way of the Nigerian. Whilst, Ighalo has only managed 157 minutes of play this season and no goal.
Arsenal will play hard rivals, Manchester City having defeated Liverpool 5 – 4 on penalties to book their place in the quarter finals.
Mikel Arteta’s men are showing glimpses of a what to expect from the north Londoners this season having only lost one out of five games they have played so far this season.
The Gunners no doubt have their heads held high alongside Nigerian born teenage sensation, Bukayo Saka who recently got a call up to the three lions for their upcoming games against Wales, Belgium and Denmark following his blistering form for Arsenal since breaking into the main team last season.
Saka’s inclusion in the England squad only dealt a big blow on the Super Eagles of Nigeria; going by the fact that the skillful winger who can as well play as a full back, may not be eligible to feature for his motherland.
