Nigeria’s only representatives at the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League, Bayelsa Queens, will now face host AS FAR of Morocco in the semi-final stage of the competition after beating Egypt’s Wadi Degla 3-0 in their last group game.

The match is scheduled for Wednesday November 9, 2022.

The Nigerian club will confront their Moroccan counterparts hoping there won’t be a repeat of what happened at the 2022 Women African Cup of Nations where Nigeria’s Super Falcons succumbed to defeat in the hands of Morocco.

Also, AS FAR men’s club has been a difficult side for Nigeria over the years, eliminating all of them in continental ties.

However, the Bayelsa Queens could make more impact going forward in the competition considering the victories the club has recorded so far.

Against, Egyptian club, the Nigerian side in the last group B game played at the Complexe Sportive Prince Heritier Moulay Al Hassan witnessed Bayelsa Queens dominating the game from the blast of the whistle.

Juliet Sunday put Bayelsa Queens upfront in the 8th minute.

After the goal, the Prosperity Girls as the Nigerian club is known, pressed for more goals, but couldn’t get another as the first half ended one-nil in favour of the Yenagoa based team.

In the second stanza, Bayelsa Queens got another goal in the 48 minutes with a one two ball from Juliet Sunday which Itimi Mercy made no mistake to convert.

With the second goal, Wadi Degla came out pressing to get a goal, but the defense of Bayelsa Queens FC thwarted their efforts, but it was Itimi Mercy that got her brace in the match five minutes later after scoring her first goal with a powerful shot from 25 yards that beat goalkeeper Farah Samir Ali Hassan in goal for Wadi Degla.
