Thursday, the 28th of October 2020, has been declared a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola made the declaration on behalf of the the Federal Government. of Nigeria
The minister in a statement by issued by his Director of Press and Public Relations, Mohammed Manga, congratulated Muslim faithful for witnessing the occasion which commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
Aregbesola who urged Muslim faithful to imbibe virtues of love, patience, and perseverance, also appealed to Nigerians, particularly Muslims to abhor violence, lawlessness, wantonness, and daylight robbery as witnessed across the country recently.
He also called for a stop to all divisive tendencies across the country, stressing the need for Nigerians and the youths, in particular, to embrace peace and cooperate with the Muhammadu Buhari administration in its effort to build a nation which all citizens would be proud of.
The minister further wished Muslims a happy Eid-el-Maulud celebration and all Nigerians a happy holiday.
