Ghanaian President, John Dramani Mahama, has arrived in London for a high-level working visit focused on strengthening economic ties between Ghana and the United Kingdom, attracting foreign investment and engaging the Ghanaian diaspora.
In a statement issued on Sunday by presidential spokesperson and Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Ghanaian leader was received on arrival by Lord Katz of the Royal Household, Gordon Wetherell, Special Representative of the Secretary of State for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Mrs Sabah Zita Benson.
The visit will feature a royal audience with King Charles III and a breakfast meeting with Keir Starmer, highlighting the enduring diplomatic and economic relationship between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
According to the statement, the trip is designed to position Ghana as a leading investment destination while deepening engagement with Ghanaians living abroad.
As part of his itinerary, President Mahama will participate in a town hall meeting with members of the Ghanaian community in the UK, hosted by the Ghana High Commission in London. He is also scheduled to open the Ghana-United Kingdom Investment Summit at Raffles on Monday.
The summit is expected to serve as a key platform for attracting foreign direct investment and creating new opportunities for collaboration between Ghanaian businesses and British investors.
In a further demonstration of Ghana’s growing role in international finance, Mahama will visit the London Stock Exchange, where he will ring the opening bell to mark the start of trading.
The President is also expected to deliver an address at Chatham House and present a keynote speech at the 12th Africa Debate at London’s Guildhall.
The Ghanaian government said the visit reflects the country’s commitment to expanding international partnerships, promoting investment opportunities and driving economic transformation for sustainable growth.
President Mahama is expected to conclude the visit on June 3, 2026.
