President of Ghana, John Mahama, has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to drive economic transformation through expanded business opportunities and stronger private sector collaboration.

Kwahu Business Forum 2026

Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum 2026 in Mpraeso, Eastern Region, the President announced plans to upgrade the annual gathering into a globally competitive business platform. Central to this vision is the construction of a modern convention, conference, and exhibition centre in partnership with private firms, Metalex and Trasacco.

According to Mahama, the project will provide the infrastructure needed to position Ghana as a regional hub for investment, commerce, and economic dialogue.

24-Hour Economy Initiative

The President also unveiled a robust package of incentives under the government’s flagship 24-Hour Economy Initiative, aimed at boosting industrial productivity and supporting businesses operating round-the-clock. The measures include duty-free importation of machinery for eligible firms, accelerated port clearance processes to ease logistics bottlenecks, and targeted support for companies adopting multiple-shift operations.

He noted that the initiative is designed to stimulate industrial growth, create quality jobs, and strengthen Ghana’s competitiveness as a manufacturing destination.

Call for Responsible Corporate Conduct

Mahama further stressed the importance of responsible corporate conduct, urging businesses to prioritise tax compliance, adopt effective succession planning, and invest in small and medium-sized enterprises to drive inclusive and sustainable growth.

Commendation and Forum Attendance

He commended his Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, for his role in developing the forum into a leading platform for business engagement, innovation, and investment partnerships.

The forum, attended by entrepreneurs, industrialists, investors, policymakers, and development partners, focused on charting pathways to accelerate economic growth and deepen business development across the country.
