The International Criminal Court ICC has finally begun preliminary investigation into the alleged massacre of #EndSARS protesters by men of the Nigerian Army at Lekki Toll Gate Plaza, Lagos.
This was made known by the senior prosecutor of ICC Fatou Bensouda who confirmed receipts of information regarding the alleged crimes.
The Heritage Times had earlier reported how the International Tribunal sitting in Hague reacted to developments surrounding #EndSARS protests about 40 hours after the Lekki shootings.
The ICC said it will “assess whether the legal criteria for opening an investigation under the Rome statute are met.”
It also assured Nigerians that findings of the preliminary examination will be made public.
