Can anything separate Gareth Bale from his love for golfing? Obviously nothing! if the Welsh time at the Bernabeu is anything to go by.
The 31-year-old’s love for the sport magnified of recent, having angered those associated with Real Madrid and the Spanish press after he unveiled a controversial banner while on international duty with his national team.
Bale celebrated a victory with his team-mates by showing a national flag with the words ‘Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order’ following the team qualification for the Euro 2020.
Bale’s action on the night sparked disbelief among the club’s faithful as they were concerned about his commitment to the Los Blancos which led to fallout with the La liga side amid his struggle for fitness and game time.
Former Madrid team-mate Thibaut Courtois had revealed that among the squad, the 31-year-old is known as ‘The Golfer’. A nickname the Welshman said he was pleased with.
However, life seems to be sailing off smoothly for Bale following a decision to reunite with his old club, Spurs.
Besides, scoring his first goal for the club in a 2-1 victory for Jose Mourinho’s side against Brighton on Sunday, golf holes have been created for him at the training ground.
His Spurs team mate, Sergio Reguilon, revealed to Cedena Ser that it seems Bale has had an improved mood since returning to England.
He said, “He seems different to me. The language is everything for him. He speaks Spanish well, it’s not bad, a bit like me in English, but communication, the habits, mean he’s happier in England… I have no idea if he’ll return (to Madrid).
“What most surprised me is at Spurs’ training ground there are golf holes. I asked about it and they told me they were put there for him! They’re short holes, maybe 30 metres. I couldn’t believe it!” he said.
