The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have maintained dominance in the governorship results announced so far across the country.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for Abia State governorship election, Professor Nnenna Otti, while announcing the result in Umuahia on Wednesday, said Labour Party’s Otti polled a total of 175,467 votes to defeat his closest rival, Okey Ahiwe of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 88,529 votes.

Collation of results was on Monday suspended following the invasion of INEC office in Obingwa Local Government Area, where it office also reported that the officials of the electoral commission were abducted. Out of the 17 local governments in the state, collation was concluded in 16 with the exception of Obingwa.

Obingwa is the local government area of the outgoing Governor Okezie Ikpeazu who had anointed Ahiwe as preferred successor.
