After losing Arsenal loanee to United States, Nigeria has let go another prolific footballer.
His name is Eberechi Eze.
Eze currently plays for Crystal Palace in the English Premier League (EPL).
Nigeria, a West African football powerhouse has lost him to England.
Heritage Times HT reports that this became evident after he was included in the England squad for next month’s Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.
The former Super Eagles eligible who has six league goals and one assist since the beginning of April for the Eagles, was called up to Southgate’s provisional squad two years ago but suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in Palace training on the same day.
Eze was initially capped at U20 and U21 levels.
In the England lineup, Chelsea forward Sterling missed out by mutual decision after talks with boss Gareth Southgate.
England face Malta in Ta’ Qali on 16 June, before playing North Macedonia at Old Trafford three days later.
The Three Lions top the early Group C table after beating Italy and Ukraine in their opening two qualifying matches in March.
