The major reason behind Victor Moses’ absence from Inter Milan this season has been revealed.
Moses played for the Nerazzurri during the second half of the 2019/20 season but didn’t return to San Siro stadium for the 2020/2021 season.
It is understood that the 29-year-old was Conte’s preference as a replacement for Dalbert Henrique who has been snapped by Rennes.
More so, Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Inter were on the verge of signing Moses after Chelsea failed to loan out club-mate Marcos Alonso to the Serie A side.
However, Inter did not go on to sign Moses as club owners Suning did not approve the move owing to an existing pool of talents like Achraf Hakimi, Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian and Danilo D’Ambrosio that can play in wing-back capacity.
Conte’s preference for Moses may not be unconnected to the fact that the Nigerian was part of the manager’s Premier League-winning team in 2017.
While on loan with Inter, Moses helped the club finish as runners-up in both the UEFA Europa League and Serie A.
In the meantime, the winger has been linked to an exit from Chelsea where he has no place in Frank Lampard’s plans this season.
