Team Nigeria has claimed it’s first Gold medal of the 2022 Commonwealth games through Weightlifter Olarinoye Adenike Adijat.
Olarinoye lifted a combined total of 203kg, a Games Record to win the women’s 55kg Weightlifting event to hand Nigeria her first Gold medal of the games.
Olarinoye was one of Nigeria’s Gold medal hopefuls and has lived up to her pre game rating with a Gold medal finish.
India’s Sorokhaniban lfter settled for the silver, while England’s Fraer settled for the bronze.
Olarinoye’s victory threw the Team Nigeria camp into jubilation after the other Nigerian lifters failed to make the podium.
