President Muhammadu Buhari has finally spoken on the ongoing nationwide protests, been led by young Nigerians who are for calling for the ban of a tactical unit in the Nigerian police force known as the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The president in a series of tweets on his twitter timeline @Mbuhari, assured Nigerians that He is working relentlessly with the Inspector General of the Nigerian police force to bring to justice “erring personnels” of SARS.
He also appealed to Nigerians to remain calm and be patient, even as they are free to exercise their human right by peacefully making their opinions known.
“I appeal for patience & calm, even as Nigerians freely exercise their right to peacefully make their views known” he said.
He however did not say if the unit will be banned but promises to see to it that unit will be completely reformed and will be accountable to the people.
The #ENDSARS protests is still ongoing in major parts of the country and fast gaining international recognition as prominent stars in other countries have joined in the protest.
The call to ban the unit came after young Nigerians got tired of the brutality, harassment and even deaths that has been on the increase as a result of encountering officers of the unit. they have encountered.
