Chelsea and Leicester must learn to absorb the pressure in the race for the top four after the Liverpool overcame Man United at Old Trafford on Thursday.
Bruno Fernandes had opened the scoring in the heavyweight clash as he smashed Frank Lampard’s record for most goals scored by a Premier League midfielder in a single season.
The Portuguese took his tally for the season and across all competition to 28 but his record had no effect on his side as Jurgen Klopp’s men defeated the Red Devils 4-2 at Old Trafford.
It was Liverpool’s first Premier League win at Old Trafford since March 2014 and Klopp’s first ever away win against United with the club.
The win took Liverpool up to fifth position on 60 points, just four points behind Chelsea in fourth in the league table while they still have four games left to play.
United took the lead in the 10th minute through Fernandes whose sidefoot strike was helped in by Nathaniel Phillips.
Liverpool leveled in the 34th minutes through Diogo Jota who flicked in Phillips’ strike across the box.
Three minutes into first half added time Liverpool went 2-1 up as Roberto Firmino nodded in at the back post after a pinpoint free-kick from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Just two minutes into the second half Firmino scored again to make it 3-1 after he pounced on Dean Henderson’s parry from Alexander-Arnold’s shot.
Marcus Rashford made it 3-2 in the 68th minute as he raced on to Edinson Cavani’s through pass and squeezed the ball inside the far post.
And in the 90th minute Salah sealed the win, racing into space in United’s half and assuredly tucked the ball past Henderson.
