Chelsea’s win over Manchester City in the Champions League final on Sunday night, was worth more than £95m in prize money to Thomas Tuchel’s men, with the squad set to share a £10m bonus after becoming the kings of Europe for the second time in the club’s history.

The 1-0 came thanks to Kai Havertz’s first-half goal and a defensive masterclass from Thomas Tuchel’s side.

And the players, who would have still earned £5m if they had lost to Pep Guardiola’s side, are now set to split a healthy sum having made a collective agreement at the beginning of the season that would see the entire squad rewarded.

While key players will get a larger percentage of the pot, unused squad members are going to receive a portion of the bonus. That means the likes of Tino Anjorin and Tammy Abraham will earn some extra money despite having only appeared in the group stages. Twenty four players were used by the Blues throughout the European campaign.

Although winning the final was only worth an additional €4m (£3.45m) compared to if they had been defeated, their total income for the campaign has reached €110.8m (£95.2m), according to football-coefficient.

That figure does not include money from UEFA’s market pool, essentially their broadcast income, which was worth €292m (£250m) this season. Chelsea will get 10% of the portion due to Premier League clubs.

Winning the Champions League also means the West London club are set to earn more money from the competition next season due to a boost in coefficient.

Meanwhile, head coach Thomas Tuchel is set to extend his contract to 2023, with the option of an extra year, having held his first conversation with owner Roman Abramovich during the on-pitch celebrations last night.
