The decision for the president to go into isolation became necessary after he was seen in close contact with Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola, and other members of the Nigerian High Commission in Central London who reportedly tested positive to COVID-19.

The entire Nigerian High Commission in Central London is reportedly now in complete lockdown for 10 days in observation of UK COVID-19 regulations.

It was also in line with precautionary measure required of all international travellers arriving in the country in case they had been exposed to COVID-19.

The presidency yesterday confirmed the President has been taking measures to protect himself while attending to official duties.

Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu said all documents brought to his attention were sanitized before they reach him.

According to him: “The President is truly isolating as required following international travel. During this period, which ends on Wednesday (tomorrow), he will be attending to urgent and critical documents.

“It is important to note that all documents coming to Mr President are screened and sanitised with specialised equipment before and after they reached him.

“The PIB (he signed yesterday) passed through the same process.”
