The Drive hit-maker won in the category Best Dance/Electronic Album for his seventh studio album, ‘Subconsciously’ which was released in 2021, featuring Pharrell Williams, David Guetta, Msaki among other artists.

With the feat, Black Coffee became the first African DJ to receive the accolade, adding to his BET Award.

Since the ‘Drive’ hit-maker gave his acceptance speech, congratulatory messages have continued to pour in for him.

One Twitter user wrote: “A little boy named Nkosinathi Innocent Sizwe Maphumulo from KwaZulu-Natal grew up to become a Grammy winner on April 3, 2022. Black child, it is possible. Congratulations, Black Coffee.”

President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa was not left out as he thanked Black Coffee for “inspiring a new generation of talent to take over the world”.
