It is now clear that Italian giants Juventus will not participate in the 2023/24 Europa Conference League.
This is after the club revealed that it is reportedly due to the problems they had been facing with the financial fair play rules.
Already, reports from Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport suggest that Juventus reached an agreement with UEFA.
With the latest development, the next club, Fiorentina, which finished on 8th position last season will have the opportunity to fit into the slot.
How Juventus Got Here
Juventus suffered 10 points deductions in May 2023 after evidence of false accounting was found following the investigation into the club’s transfer portfolio of the past few years.
This was after Juventus had 15 points deducted earlier the year, but managed to repeal the sentence.
Apart from the points deduction, many of Juventus‘ former board members were banned from football activities. This included the club’s ex-president Andrea Agnelli, who stepped down along with some of his counsels.
The Old Lady as Juventus are also known was second in the Serie A standings when they were punished.
This resulted in them going down to seventh place and were out of the Champions League spots in Serie A.
They have now made it clear that they will focus on trying to win the Serie A title again, which has eluded them since the 2019/2020 season, as the last three winners of the domestic championship have been Inter, Milan and Napoli.
