A prestigious Table Tennis club, Khaleej, in Saudi Arabia has officially engaged top star, Quadri Aruna.
The club disclosed this via its official social media handles Thursday.
The move many believe marks a significant milestone in Aruna’s professional journey.
Still Ruling Africa
Aruna, African champion, previously showcased his talents in Portugal, Germany, and Russia leagues.
Currently ranked 16th in the world, Aruna, 35, is fresh from winning the 2023 African title in Tunisia.
He remains the highest ever ranked African player, a feat he achieved in 2022 when the Nigerian sensation was placed 10th best in the world.
Aruna’s Other Significant Records
Aruna joined the Saudi Arabia side from German club TTC RhönSprudel Maberzell Fulda.
He has represented Nigeria at the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and World Cup.
At the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, he won silver.
Before then, Aruna reached quarter-final of the Men’s Singles competition at the World Cup 2014, after which the International Table Tennis Federation named him the Star Player of the year.
In the 2017 ITTF World Challenge Bulgaria Open, he advanced to the semi-finals, where he was defeated in a tight match by the eventual winner Dimitrij Ovtcharov.
