The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has achieved the conviction of Quadri Adeyinka, an employee of the Nigeria Immigration Service, for perpetrating passport fraud.
On Monday, according to a statement by Demola Bakare, Spokesperson for the Commission, Adeyinka was arraigned before Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo, Abuja. The charges against him included gratification, conferment of corrupt advantage, and cheating, contravening provisions of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000, and the Penal Code Act.
During the trial, ICPC’s counsel, Dr. Osuobeni Akponimisingha presented evidence detailing how Adeyinka deceived Ovie Ojeffia into paying ₦100,000 to regularize an international passport, which Adeyinka failed to fulfill.

Ojeffia reported the incident to ICPC, leading to an investigation and Adeyinka’s subsequent arraignment.
In his ruling, Justice Onwuegbuzie found Adeyinka guilty on all four counts and sentenced him to seven years for counts one (1) and two (2), five (5) years for count four (4), and two years for count three (3). The sentences are to be served concurrently.
