Ethiopian Airlines has once again marked International Women’s Day by operating six special flights entirely staffed by women, the national carrier announced in a statement on Sunday.
As part of its ongoing commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment in the aviation industry, the airline operated all-female-operated flights to six destinations: Athens, São Paulo, New Delhi, Windhoek, Dubai, and Bahir Dar.
These flights featured female pilots, co-pilots, cabin crew, air traffic controllers, flight dispatchers, and ground operations staff, symbolising a significant stride in advocating for gender inclusion within the aviation sector.
“This initiative is part of Ethiopian Airlines’ celebration of both the 114th International Women’s Day and the 49th National Women’s Day,” the airline stated.
By showcasing the expertise and dedication of its female aviation professionals, Ethiopian Airlines aims to inspire more women to pursue careers in the industry. The initiative serves as a reminder of the increasing role women play in aviation and encourages young girls to dream big and break barriers in traditionally male-dominated fields.
“The all-female-operated flight initiative not only empowers women but also sends a strong message about the importance of gender equality,” the airline emphasised.
Since 2015, Ethiopian Airlines has been commemorating International Women’s Day by operating all-female-staffed flights to different destinations worldwide. This tradition underscores the airline’s commitment to highlighting the achievements of women in aviation while promoting diversity and inclusion within the sector.
