The Royal Palace in Tetouan hosted a grand ceremony on Wednesday, as Morocco’s newest generation of military leaders officially took their oath of allegiance before King Mohammed VI.
Accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid, the monarch presided over the solemn occasion at Mechouar Square, which also marked the commemoration of his 24th anniversary on the throne.
The event witnessed the formal induction of newly commissioned officers from Morocco’s premier military institutions, including the Royal Military Academy, the Royal Air Academy, the Royal Naval Academy, and the Royal School of Military Medical Services. Also present were non-commissioned officers who had recently been promoted to officer rank.
In a symbolic gesture, the 2025 graduating class was named in honor of Princess Lalla Latifa, celebrating Moroccan mothers’ critical role in nurturing citizens grounded in national values and discipline. The tribute underscored the monarchy’s continued emphasis on the family unit as a pillar of national identity.
The ceremonial proceedings included a flag salute, the national anthem, and a review of the troops by the King alongside the royal family.
