The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a fresh upward review of passport application fees, with the new rates set to take effect from September 1, 2025.

In a statement issued on Thursday by its spokesperson, ACI AS Akinlabi, the NIS said the revised fees apply only to applications processed within Nigeria.

Under the new structure, the 32-page passport with five-year validity will cost N100,000, while the 64-page passport with 10-year validity will now go for N200,000.

The Service clarified that fees for Nigerians applying abroad remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page, five-year booklet and $230 for the 64-page, 10-year option.

According to Akinlabi, the adjustment was necessary “to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport while ensuring accessibility for citizens.”

This latest hike comes barely a year after a similar review in August 2024, which saw prices jump from N35,000 to N50,000 for the 32-page, five-year booklet, and from N70,000 to N100,000 for the 64-page, 10-year version.

The NIS said the increments are part of ongoing efforts to sustain service delivery and improve passport production standards.
