American-Senegalese music star Akon has reportedly found himself in the middle of a high-profile legal battle as his wife, Tomeka Thiam, files for divorce after 29 years of marriage.

According to reports, Tomeka is demanding €100 million as compensation, citing years of irreconcilable differences. The couple, who had been together since the early days of Akon’s career, were once celebrated as one of entertainment’s most enduring unions.

However, insiders claim the marriage had been troubled for years, with Tomeka accusing the singer of emotional neglect and lack of financial transparency. Sources also allege she had considered leaving for some time, especially after Akon’s multiple relationships became public.

The pair share children, though details regarding custody arrangements have not been made public.

Court reportedly discovers only $10,000 in Akon’s account
In a surprising twist, reports from the ongoing divorce proceedings suggest that Akon has only $10,000 in his personal bank account, a revelation that has stunned fans worldwide.

Given his long-standing image as a wealthy philanthropist with major investments across Africa and the United States, the claim has raised questions about where his assets are held.

An insider alleged that most of Akon’s wealth may be stored elsewhere, including under his mother’s name. “The court couldn’t trace the bulk of his assets directly to him,” the source said, fuelling speculation that the singer may be protecting his fortune ahead of the divorce settlement.

Akon has yet to comment on the reports, and his legal team has not issued any official statement regarding the financial claims or the divorce proceedings.

Social media erupts over shocking revelations
The alleged discovery of Akon’s $10,000 account balance has ignited intense debate online, with thousands of reactions and memes flooding X (formerly Twitter).

While some fans defended the singer, arguing that high-net-worth individuals often keep limited liquid cash, others questioned why Tomeka would demand such a massive settlement if Akon’s financial standing was uncertain.

Meanwhile, neither Akon nor Tomeka has released a public statement confirming or denying the ongoing reports surrounding their marriage and finances.
