All still seem unsettled in the camp of the Super Eagles ahead of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea, after the star-studded Nigerian senior national team trained in the dark.
Heritage Times HT reports that up to 21 professional players already available for the crunch tie as at Tuesday evening, were subjected to hastily train under dark conditions at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja.
The development wasn’t any different on Monday when the team opened camp and resumed training.
The latest happening which has turned a national embarrassment reared up amidst wild reports of Super Eagles coaches’ revolt over non-payment and lack of contractual agreements by the Nigeria Football Federation.
Despite the official malace, Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has kept mute and watched in disbelief amidst claims he has spent billions of tax payers’ money improving infrastructure within various sporting facilities across the nation.
Also, a trending video has showed how the same Youth and Sports Ministry made available a rickety toyota coaster bus to squeeze up to 21 players as well as the team’s officials to and fro the stadium and hotel where they are lodged.
The disgusting video clip also revealed how the players and officials had to use their personal phone torchlight to find their way out of the stadium’s main bowl on Monday and Tuesday evening.
Some of the players in camp who took part in the training under darkness include Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, Francis Uzoho, Ahmed Musa, Paul Onuachu among others.
Both Super Eagles and their Guinean counterparts will trade tackles on Friday March 2023 in the first leg, before they jet out to Morocco for the second leg on Tuesday March 27.
As at the time of filling this report, no official reaction has come from the ministry, notorious for repeated official negligence in the manner of handling sporting issues and development in Nigeria.
