Experienced Nigerian defender-William Troost-Ekong has joined the growing list of injured Super Eagles players that will not be available for the International friendly match against the Desert Foxes of Algeria.
The much anticipated friendly match will be decided on Tuesday September 27, 2022.
It was veteran Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi who caught injury few days ago and left the team’s camp in Constantine Algeria before the first friendly encounter with the home-based of the North African team.
But Ekong made it to the team camp and was in action against the Algeria B team where he picked up a knock that ruled him out of the game.
According to the update from the team camp in Algeria, Ekong has returned to England for his assessment and treatment from the Watford FC medics.
“William Troost-Ekong has left the camp as a result of an injury cropped during the test game yesterday. He is back to base for further checks. Wishing you a speedy recovery Ekong,” reads a tweet on the Super Eagles Twitter handle.
Other top Nigerian players – Skipper Ahmed Musa, Leon Balogun, Victor Osimhen, Henry Onyekuru, Jamiu Collins were all earlier ruled out of the Algeria ties due to injuries.
The last time Nigeria clashed with Algeria was during 2019 African Cup of Nations, where the later emerged victorious.
