President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto’o Fils, has been appointed Chairman of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Technical Committee.
The role is in addition to his being a member of the CAF Executive Committee.
Despite his previously challenging relationship with the organisation, the former Barcelona star was handed the new role.
The legendary striker earned the position thanks to his impressive achievements in the game and is expected to play a key role in providing technical advice for upcoming major competitions.
Eto’o had a running battle with CAF, a situation that led to his initial disqualification from contesting the recently held continental election.
Later on, the global football legend appealed the case at CAS before he was reinstated.
He, however, won the election that has placed him as one of the top CAF leaders.
