Bola Tinubu, presidential flagbearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the much peddled rumour of a Muslim-Muslim ticket, insisting that he will pick a Northern Christian as his running mate for 2023.
Tinubu who was reacting to speculations that he will pick a Muslim as his running mate, bared his mind on Monday while he spoke at the APC governorship rally in Ekiti State.
The former Lagos State Governor said those behind the Muslim-Muslim ticket rumour are undemocratic elements who are threatened by his imminent victory in the coming presidential elections.
“The VP slot belongs to the Northeastern region and particularly the Christians, but consultations are yet ongoing as to who will be decided,” Tinubu said.
He however assured Nigerians that no group, institution or person can impose a running mate on him.
His closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who is from the North East, is also faced with the must-do task of picking a Christian running mate from Southern Nigeria.
