JERRY GANA, SIMBI, OLUGBO OF UGBO TO RECEIVE AFRICAN VALUE AWARDS
Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory is set to host the 2021 Edition of the Africa Value Awards (AVA2021) at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotels & Towers, on Thursday, July 29, 2021.
Notable among the high profile Nigerians penciled down to receive the awards are- former Minister of Information and Presidential aspirant at the 2019 general elections, Prof. Jerry Gana. Prof. Gana who is the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the AVA, will also sit as Chairman of the Occasion. The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote, will be honored for his strides in championing Local Content in Africa, and domesticating growth on the African continent. Also, Oba Dr. Frederick E. Obateru, the Olugbo of Ugbo and Chairman Ondo Council of Obas, will be honored, just as he will serve as the Royal Father of the Day.
The aim of the Award according to the organizers, is to continually promote and celebrate value and excellence in Africa. The Award was established in 2018 to recognize individuals and organizations who have positively projected the intrinsic values of the African continent, propelled economy growth, enhanced youth empowerment and participation, ensure community development, and promote educational advancement, as well as humanitarian services and peaceful coexistence.
This year’s edition of the AVA will be powered by Vardi Africa in partnership with the International Institute for African Scholars (IIAS). The partnership according to the organizers, is to enhance efficiency and excellence, and ensure that the awardees are celebrated globally.
Among renowned Africans that have bagged the Awards since its inception, are President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf- former President of Liberia. Also, reputable organizations like Ethiopian Airlines, Transcorp Hilton and Heritage Bank Plc, have been honored in this regard.
The 2021 AVA will further play host to the official launch of the Book “THE KEY TO A GREAT AFRICA-The Leadership guide for Development and Peaceful Coexistence”, book that featured world leaders and other prominent Africans. Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is the Special Guest of Honour. The event has Amb. Daniel N. Obah, Executive Director, AVA, as the Chief Organiser.
