The Federal High Court Abuja, on Thursday condemned Faisal, son of Abdulrasheed Maina, a former Chairman of the redundant Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), to 14 years in prison after he was found guilty of all three-count charges levelled against him by the Federal Government.
Justice Okon Abang gave the ruling while delivering judgement on the trial of Faisal, who had earlier jumped bail and escaped out of the country.
In count one, Faisal was jailed 5 years, in count two, he was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment with effect from October 7, 2021.
Thus, the court ordered Faisal to return the sum of N58.1m he laundered back to the coffers of the Federal Government.
In count three, the defendant was jailed for 5 years, while the court held that the terms will run concurrently.
Justice Abang further ordered his immediate arrest either within or outside the country, so he can begin serving his sentence. If arrested outside Nigeria, Justice Abang ruled that he be lawfully extradited.
