An 87th minute strike by Dele Bashiru was enough for the Nigeria’s Super Eagles to claim 3 points against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Dele who was introduced in the second half converted a long cross from Moses Simon in the late minute to seal the victory.
Ademola Lookman was the liveliest in the opening periods, but his threats were continuously snuffed out.
He eventually scored late on but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Nigeria will now face Libya in the return leg on October 15.
