Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, received the Transitional Government of Mali at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Buhari while hosting the Special Envoy led by, Col. Abdoulaye Maiga, Mali’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, urged the government to do everything within the tenets of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, to restore constitutional order in the country.
The President assured the envoy that Nigeria will do its best to support the country under ECOWAS rules.
The visiting team briefed President Buhari on conclusions from the National Conference on State-Rebuilding, held in Bamako, from December 27 to 30, last year.
Responding to the comprehensive briefing, Buhari avowed that nobody could love Mali more than Malians themselves.
Former President, Goodluck Jonathan has been leading an ECOWAS Mediation Team on visits to Bamako to hold talks with the Transitional Government led by Col. Assimi Goita and the People of Mali towards the success of the transition programme.
A statement issued by Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina, informed that Jonathan visited Buhari at the Villa on Thursday to brief him on the political development in Mali.
The statement also added that a special meeting of ECOWAS will hold in Ghana, on Sunday, to deliberate on the political situation in Mali.
Adesina said that was the subject of the parley between Jonathan Buhari.
