Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige has assured of the Federal Government’s readiness to implement law mandating allocation of 5% of jobs at both private and public sectors to people living with disabilities.
Ngige who gave the assurance during the 16th Anniversary Celebration of KPAKPANDO Foundation for persons living with disabilities, said a circular will be issued to all the ministries and parastatals by next week.
According to him, implementing such policy is one of the major steps which the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is taking to ensure inclusivity in government.
The Minister further noted that the Federal Government is totally committed to making life more meaningful to the less privileged people in the society, adding that the Labor Ministry would also support the Kpakpando Foundation in providing materials and cash for persons with disabilities.
He went on to commend Senator Osita Izunaso, Founder of KPAKPANDO Foundation for his consistency in supporting and funding the wellbeing of persons with disabilities for the past 16 years.
