Former Nigerian international and Ajax Legend, Finidi George, has expressed dissatisfaction with the current Super Eagles team, noting that there’s still a lot to be done by the Gernot Rohr-led technical crew.

The UEFA Champions League winner stated that the present squad plays less as a team and relies mostly on individual brilliance in order to win matches.

Finidi made this statement while reacting on the recent African Cup of Nations draw held in Yaounde, Cameroon capital on Tuesday.

Appearing on a Channels Television programmes, Finidi said: “The current Super Eagles team are not better than the set that finished third at the 2019 AFCON finals in Egypt. I saw them against Sierra Leone when they conceded three goals in the second half, and they drew that game. All we have seen is individual brilliance, but they don’t function well as a team.”

“We have yet to see the team play good football under the current technical crew, so I can say I don’t have confidence in the team,” he added.

The three-time AFCON champions lead Group D. Their opening match will be against seven-time champions, Pharaohs of Egypt, on January 11.

They are joined by 1970 champions Sudan and Guinea-Bissau, who are making a third appearance in the competition.
