Reports making the rounds in Sierra Leone claims that police in the country’s capital, Freetown are currently in the house of striker Kei Kamara to prevent fans from destroying his property.

Sierra Leone’s remarkable Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) journey came to an end on Thursday after a 1-0 defeat to Equatorial Guinea in their final group game.

Kamara had the chance from the spot-kick to find an equalizer which would in all probability see Sierra Leone qualify as one of the best third-placed team, but the MLS based striker saw his penalty saved by Jesus Owono.

Sierra Leone’s elimination from the tournament has not been received well by throng of expectant fans who have reportedly threatened to raid Kamara’s house.

Recall that the 37-year-old was instrumental in Leone Stars qualification for their first-ever AFCON in 25 years after his first-half penalty swept aside Benin Republic as they finished runners up in the group which also had winners Nigeria and Lesotho.

Kamara has so far won 41 caps for his country since making his debut in 2008.

Prior to their elimination, Sierra Leone, one of the dark horses at the ongoing AFCON, did put up an impressive performance against powerhouses Algeria and Ivory Coast, but like it’s often said, not every love story has a happy ending.
