The paramount king of the Idoma Kingdom, Agaba-Idu, His Royal Majesty (HRM), Dr. Elaigwu John Odogbo, Och’Idoma V, has called for power rotation to Benue Zone C, the Idoma- speaking area, in the spirit of justice and fairness saying that it would “strengthen the unity, peace, good governance and development of our great state”.
The Agaba-Idu made this call while receiving members of the Benue Senate Caucus who paid him a homage at his temporary palace in Otukpo.
The Senators included Patrick Abba Moro (Benue South), Gabriel Suswam (Benue North-East) and Benue Senate Caucus Leader, and Senator Orker Jev (Benue North-West).
A statement signed by the Chief Palace Scribe, Mr. Onuminya Samuel Odoba, stated that the paramount ruler expressed his appreciation to the political leders for their “great services to the good people of Benue State”.
He thus promised them that the Idoma traditional institution would give them necessary support to the political leaders so as to “ensure good synergy between the Idoma Area Traditional Council and government at all levels”.
On their part, the federal law makers said the purpose of their homage was to assure the paramount monarch of their support for a peaceful Idoma Kingdom, as well as the development of the Idomaland and Benue State.
Senator Suswam who spoke on behalf of the visitors assured that the three Senators representing the state were committed and ready to “work with His Royal Majesty in order to improve the development of Idoma nation in particular and indeed Benue State as a whole”.
