Before the 100m hurdles final, Amusan had earlier shattered the World Record (WR) in the first semifinal of the Women’s 100mH, running an absolutely stunning 12.12s.

However, the Nigerian obliterated that mark with a superb 12.06s (+2.5m/s) which would have been her second World Record (WR) of the evening but for the excess wind.

Jamaican Britany Anderson came second in 12.23s, while Olympic Champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn settled for Bronze with the same time.

The 25-year-old Ijebu Ode born athlete set the World Record twice before she was crowned the world champion in the 100m hurdles.

In 2016, Amusan took eight hundredths of a second off American Keni Harrison‘s world record, which was her previous personal best before the semi-final was 12.40, set in the first round on Saturday.

She had earlier taken eight hundredths of a second off American Keni Harrison‘s world record from 2016. Amusan’s previous personal best before the semi-final was 12.40, set in the first round on Saturday in Oregon.

Amusan, a Diamond League trophy winner, Commonwealth Games champion and multiple African Champion, now has an eye on the Olympic Games medal to add to her impressive collection.

On the sand, Brume, the African record holder produced a huge 7.02m, her biggest jump of the year to come second in the event.

Brume is the first Nigerian to win a medal at two successive editions of the World Championships, having won a bronze medal last time out in Doha.
