Perhaps for the umpteenth time, the embattled President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick, has said he won’t be running to return as President.

There has been controversies over moves by the outgoing NFF President to contest for a third term after spending eight years on the saddle.

However, Pinnick, a FIFA and Confederation of African Football (CAF) executive council member Monday August 15, 2022 clearly promised to work with whoever succeed him after the September elective Congress.

While speaking on Arise TV, a popular medium in Nigeria, Pinnick said, “I am fine. There are so many Nigerians that are capable of being there (NFF President). I will assist and work with anyone who wins the elections.”

“I will work with whoever emerges as NFF President. That I promise. I will intervene but will not interfere.”

Pinnick who is the first Nigerian to win as NFF President on two consecutive times, had earlier declared he would not contest again for the same position after the Super Eagles failed to pick the 2022 World Cup ticket.

However, the NFF has been foot-dragging on scheduling an emergency Annual General Assembly (AGA) to set the ball rolling for the Elective Congress.

But, that seemed to be over as the federation has set August 18 for the AGA in Lagos State and promised that the elections would hold in September this year.

The AGA which was earlier slated for Yenagoa, Bayelsa State has thus been rescheduled.
