While Rivers United, a club from South-South Nigeria emerged Champions of 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, others including Plateau United, Remo Stars, and Kwara United finished second, third and fourth respectively.

Talking about the fixtures, Rivers United will host Watanga FC of Liberia in a CAF Champions League preliminary round, 1st leg, at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday.

Coached by veteran Coach Stanley Eguma, the pride of Rivers side convincingly won the domestic and will be looking to make a flying start to their continental campaign against their Liberian opponents by securing a big win to make the second leg in Monrovia eight days later a mere formality.

The NPFL runners-up and Nigeria’s second representatives in the continental elite club competition Plateau United will be guests of Stade Mandji of Gabon at Stade de Franceville in New Franceville on Saturday.

The match which was initially scheduled for Libraville , the Gabonese Capital, was moved to Franceville, the second largest city of the oil rich country, 72 hours to the match at the instance of the host.

The return leg will be held at MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, eight days later.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Remo Stars, after finishing third in the league, have their work cut out for them on their continental debut.

They will play way to FAR Rabat in a preliminary round first leg at Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah, Rabat, Morocco, the reverse tie will be staged in a week time at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.

The country’s second representatives, Kwara United, who usurped the position of Federation Cup champions in the second-tier competition, will host AS Douanes of Niger Republic at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, starting at 14:30 (Nigerian time) on Sunday.

The corresponding tie will be held at Stade Général Seyni Kountché, Niamey, later on.
