Despite reported resistance, a Nigerian billionaire – Dozy Mmobuosi has expressed his readiness to further negotiate and takeover as the owner of newly promoted English Premier League club Sheffield United.
Mmobuosi, a businessman based in England, revealed his latest intention via his verified Twitter page on Saturday.
He wrote, “I wish to state categorically that I have not withdrawn my bid to acquire Sheffield United FC. Beyond the £8.85 GBP paid to the United World, I will continue to work with the experts and professionals I hired to buy the club.”
The football enthusiast said he had “positive and constructive” with the club’s Chairman Yusuf Giansiracusa and the Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Bettis.
With the meeting, Mmobuosi said he hopes to reach a mutually beneficial outcome with the current club management.
Unlike Aliko Dangote who has been showing interest in investing on football at the international level, Mmobuosi is also plunging money into development football at home in Nigeria.
Earlier this year, he sponsored a pre-season tournament for Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), when he gave overall winners N100 million.
Already, he has declared his interest to sponsor another pre-season soccer event known as Super Cup in Nigeria.
Regular NPFL season is expected to end by July.
