Weeks after news broke that Hiba Abouk, the estranged wife of a Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi sought a court approval to inherit majority of the footballer’s wealth, another woman is targeting up to 50% of a prominent Nigerian mixed martial artist’s acquisition.
The athlete’s name is Israel Adesanya.
Powdrell ‘Ridiculous’ Plot
Now, it has emerged that his former girlfriend Charlotte Powdrell has dragged him to court in New Zealand, asking for half of his wealth.
This was disclosed during a podcast broadcasted on the Suga YouTube channel, UFC fighter Sean O’Malley.
According to him, the woman in question was never wedded to Adesanya and did not bear any children with him.
Merit In Powdrell’s Demands
He however, said she was eligible to receive fifty percent of his assets owing to their prolonged courtship and her support towards his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) profession.
“Izzy’s [Israel Adesanya’s] ex-girlfriend…They are not married, right they were never married I didn’t believe it. She wants half of his assets,” O’Malley said.
“I don’t know how their relationship was because I didn’t even know he had a girlfriend, but to want half of what he’s gone out there and done is absolutely ridiculous,” he said.
Adesanya’s Initial Relationship With Powdrel
Adesanya’s relationship with the lady, reportedly came to the limelight four years ago after they were sighted publicly together for the first time.
According to Sportskeeda, the pair first garnered attention after a photo of him posing with the woman surfaced online following his victory over Robert Whittaker at UFC 243.
He added that the pair had no child together but believes she is entitled to half of his wealth because she supported Adesanya’s career.
Adesanya currently holds the title of UFC Middleweight champion and is regarded as one of the most highly compensated mixed martial artists globally.
