European football body, UEFA, have eventually announced a ban on Juventus for the 2023/24 season.
The Italian giants were also fined after UEFA found them guilty of breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
Juventus, while continuing to consider the alleged violations insubstantial and its actions correct, has declared to accept the decision by waiving to appeal, expressly excluding, with the UEFA CFCB acknowledgment, that this may constitute admission of any liability against itself.
Juventus Many Troubles
Juventus were handed a 10-point penalty that demoted them from second to seventh in Serie A last season after an investigation into the club’s transfer dealings by an Italian court.
Federation prosecutor Giuseppe Chine had requested an 11-point penalty after asking for nine in January.
The demotion dropped them outside of the Champions League places but in line for a Europa Conference League debut.
The Italian club were also assessed a 15-point penalty in January for “financial irregularities” but it was later rescinded.
The Italian side finished seventh in Serie A last season and were therefore due to compete in the Europa Conference League.
UEFA said Juventus must also pay a fine of 10 million euros for breaking Financial Fair Play rules.
According to the football body, a further 10 million euros could be deducted if the club fails to comply with UEFA financial monitoring rules in future seasons.
UEFA had already taken the club out of Champions League qualification. Juventus now loses its spot in the third-tier Europa Conference League, which will go to Fiorentina in the play-offs round starting on August 24.
Chelsea Face Fine
UEFA also confirmed that Chelsea have been fined £8.57m for breaching FFP rules relating to the submission of “incomplete financial reporting under the club’s previous ownership.”
A statement confirming the development said: “Following its assessment, including the applicable statute of limitations, the CFCB (Club Financial Control Body) First Chamber entered into a settlement agreement with the club which has agreed to pay a financial contribution of 10million euros to fully resolve the reported matters.”
