Johannesburg Water corporation has assured residents of uninterrupted water supply on Christmas day.
In a statement on Sunday, the organization noted that although Johannesburg water challenges persist, resident should be rest assured of services during the festive season.
According to the statement, the water challenges with recent strain worsened by increased demand at the start of December.
Despite this, Johannesburg Water assured of stability in most systems, as it provided an update that indicates normal functionality.
Although local media reports that on Sunday, some areas, including Parktown, Soweto are facing low pressure or no water due to various issues.
While the Parktown complex reservoir, impacted by a broken valve, is under repair, parts of Soweto are affected by challenges in the Zondi, Doornkop, and Power Park reservoirs.
The statement further reminded residents of ongoing level one restrictions until March, urging compliance by refraining from water-intensive activities between 6 am and 6 pm.
‘’Johannesburg Water maintains focus on addressing issues promptly, assuring stability for most of the city’s water systems.
‘‘Parktown 2 reservoir levels have improved, and the system is supplying normally.
‘‘The Alexander Park reservoir levels improved overnight, and the system is supplying normally. However, due to the high demand on the reservoir, the levels decreased gradually throughout the day.
‘‘Although the Soweto continue to stabilise, they are still impacted by night-time throttling, which lowers pressure and flow. The Zondi reservoir supply is currently at 60%, while the Power Park reservoir supply is at 50%,’’ the statement read.
