In his address, Richard Akinaka, CEO of Abitto Global Services emphasized the importance of water transportation as not only a safe means of travel, but also a catalyst for economic growth.

He highlighted the shared responsibility of individuals and leaders in shaping society for the better, stressing that leadership goes beyond occupying positions, as it also entails taking responsibility for community development.

Heritage Times HT reports that the launch of the service, which will connect Calabar to Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom State, is expected to create job opportunities and facilitate easy access between the two states.

Akinaka highlighted that 90% of the infrastructure, including the boats, was locally built, a giant stride that showcased the Calabar-based company’s commitment to local content development and self-reliance, and created jobs for not less than 28 Niger Deltans.

Acknowledging the support received from the community and government, Akinaka expressed gratitude to various stakeholders, including the Nigerian Navy, for ensuring the safety of passengers. He also thanked government officials, including Governor of Cross River State, for creating an investment-friendly environment conducive to initiatives like the Abitto Ferry Service.

Launched at the Marina Resort in Calabar, the facility was commissioned by Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, Nigerian Lawmaker representing Cross River South Senatorial District.

According to Akinaka, the unveiling of the AWL-Luxury series, inspired by the guidance of leaders like Dr. Kingsley Kuku, further underscored the commitment of Abitto Global Services Limited to innovation and customer satisfaction.

Heritage Times HT reports that as the Abitto Ferry Service sets sail, it not only promises safe and comfortable travel, but also symbolizes the spirit of collaboration and progress between Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.

With a focus on connectivity and safety, this initiative is poised to leave a lasting impact on the region’s transportation landscape.

Abitto’s Partnership With The Nigerian Navy

Heritage Times HT recalls that Abitto Ferry Services has forged a strategic collaboration with the Nigerian Navy to bolster the safety and security of its operations. This partnership underscores Abitto Ferry’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of passengers and maintaining maritime safety standards.

The collaboration entails close coordination between Abitto Ferry Services and the Nigerian Navy units stationed in both Cross River and Akwa Ibom states. Together, they implement proactive measures to enhance security along the ferry route, including regular patrols, surveillance, and response protocols.

Abitto Ferry Services is a newly launched initiative by Abitto Global Services Limited, led by CEO Richard Akinaka.

The service aims to provide safe and efficient water transportation between Calabar, the capital city of Cross River State, and Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom State. The company has invested in fully air-conditioned terminals at both ends, along with purpose-built comfortable boats and jetties to ensure optimal service delivery for passengers’ comfort and safety.

Other top dignitaries present at the launch were Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and Timi Alaibe, Niger Delta leader and former Managing Director of the NDDC.
