Nigeria and the United Kingdom have announced a strengthened partnership aimed at advancing civil service reforms in Nigeria.
This development follows a recent meeting between Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Nigeria’s Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, and Simon Case, UK Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Civil Service, held at the UK Cabinet Office in London.
A statement on Saturday by Eno Olotu, Head of Information and Public Relations at Nigeria’s Office of the Head of Service informed that the discussions between the two leaders centered on exchanging knowledge and best practices to support Nigeria’s Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP) 2021-2025.
Key areas of focus included capability building, knowledge management, and enhancing Nigeria’s Civil Service Week activities by adopting elements from the UK’s “Civil Service Live” conference model.
Heritage Times HT reports that both parties have agreed to explore exchange programs and study tours to facilitate mutual learning.
The UK Civil Service has pledged to share its development insights, while also acknowledging the value of Nigeria’s experiences.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to building more efficient and responsive civil services, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship that is expected to continue strengthening in the coming years, the statement added.
