President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana held high-level discussions with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan at the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku.
Their meeting emphasized deepening Ghana-Azerbaijan relations and exploring cooperative opportunities in climate action, education, and trade.
President Aliyev welcomed President Akufo-Addo’s participation, noting that the event is a key platform for both climate leadership and bilateral collaboration.
He noted the significance of President Akufo-Addo’s presence in advancing the shared agenda for sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
On his part, President Akufo-Addo praised Azerbaijan’s seamless organization of COP29 and commended President Aliyev’s impactful address at the World Leaders Climate Action Summit, which he described as a powerful commitment to the global climate agenda.
Aditionally, the leaders discussed initiatives to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties, including scientific, educational, and business partnerships.
They identified student exchanges as an area of growing success, with Ghanaian students in Azerbaijan reporting positive academic experiences. Both presidents agreed to facilitate future exchanges and mutual visits by government and business delegations to advance cooperation across diverse sectors.
