Newly appointed head coach Adel Amrouche has declared that he is ready to win his first match against Nigeria’s Super Eagles by doing something special with the team.
Amrouche’s appointment was confirmed by the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) two days ago.
The Algerian took up the role after FERWAFA opted not to extend the contract of German tactician Thorsten Spittler.
The 56-year-old’s first game in charge of the Amavubi will be the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria later this month.
The Amavubi currently top Group C with seven points from four games.
Amrouche believes the East Africans can secure a berth at the 2026 World Cup.
“We should believe we can do something special,” he declared after taking charge of the Amavubi.
“I will do my best to achieve this, but I alone do not have the magic wand. Together, we will make Rwanda the best in Africa.”
Meanwhile, Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle on Tuesday released a 39-man squad for the match.
