Brazil and Barcelona legend Dani Alves, has been arrested by the Spanish Police after he was accused of sexually abusing a woman.
According to Associated Press, quoting Police source, the alleged act took place on December 31, 2022 at a night club in Barcelona.
However, Alves has swiftly denied the allegation.
He said, “Yes, I was in that place, with more people, enjoying myself. And people who know me know that I love to dance. I was dancing and enjoying myself without invading the space of others.
“I don’t know who that lady is. You arrive at a bathroom and you don’t have to ask who’s there. I have never invaded anyone’s space. How am I going to do it with a woman or a girl? No, for God’s sake.”
Alves will now go before a judge, who will decide on the charges.
The 39-year-old Alves is one of soccer’s most successful players, winning major titles with several elite clubs – Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.
He currently plays with Mexican club Pumas.
He has also won laurels with his national team Brazil.
