Ghana is looking for young photographers to join an exciting new contest about the country’s culture and traditions.
To this end, the nation’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture announced the National Heritage Photo Competition 2025 in Accra.
The contest is open to people from all 16 regions of Ghana who want to show the beauty of Ghanaian culture through pictures.
The minister in charge, Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, explained that this contest has two main goals. First, it will help share Ghana’s rich culture with the world. Second, it will give young creative people a chance to show their talent with cameras.
The best photos will help people in Ghana and around the world appreciate the country’s traditions more.
“We are not only promoting our rich cultural heritage but providing opportunities for young Ghanaians to showcase their creativity,” she said.
To join the contest, photographers must be 25 years old or younger. They can take pictures of many different things that show Ghana’s culture – like historic buildings, traditional clothes, local foods, or important cultural events. The photos should tell a true story about life in Ghana.
Many important organizations are working together to make this contest successful. UNESCO is helping, along with Ghanaian groups like the Ghana Tourism Authority, National Folklore Board, and several other cultural organizations. These groups want to make sure the contest reaches people across the whole country.
Young photographers who want to enter must send their pictures by email before April 30, 2025. The email address to send entries is [email protected].
This is a special chance for young Ghanaians to share what makes their culture unique and beautiful with the whole world.
